Short 5.0" long, with 2" long fins and front-loaded model flechette as dropped by the Royal Flying Corps (RFC) on German troops in WWI. Typically hundreds of these darts would be loaded in a dispensing can which the pilot or observer would hold over the side of the cockpit. The pilot would turn a handle on the top of the canister which opened a door on the bottom through which the flechettes dropped. These flechettes were known to penetrate steel helmets and to kill cavalry horses. Made of soft steel and usually somewhat rusty.
