Wonderful two-page personal letter from Walter Hinton as President and Founder of the Aviation Institute of America. Hinton is answering a letter from an aspiring young aviator who needed some encouragement as he recovered from a mishap and was attempting to get aviation employment. Hinton's response is heart-felt and stirring.
Walter Hinton, of course, is the well-known pilot of the NC-4 which was the first aircraft to cross the Atlantic in 1919. He was awarded the Navy Cross and then a Congressional Gold Medal in 1929. His autograph is not often available, especially on such a warm letter obviously authored by Hinton himself.
Condition is very good with typical toning and one small fold tear on the second page. Included is the original envelope.
