Original vintage 6x8" b & w press photo of Francis W. Grayson circa December 1927.  Grayson purchased a Sikorsky S-36 amphibian and, with hired pilot, navigator and radio engineer, took off on December 23, 1927 for Newfoundland to start their crossing.  The aircraft radioed difficulty and subsequently was lost; never to be found.  Photo and press release are in very good condition.  A unique artifact from an early trans-Atlantic attempt by a woman.
