Original vintage press photo, 8x10", b&w of famous WWI ace Harold Hartney who commanded the 27th Aero Sqdn and the 1st Pursuit Group. Here Hartney is shown in his WWI uniform; the text in the press release pasted on the reverse speaks to Hartney entering the transcontinental air race from New York to California and return on Oct 8, 1919. In reality, he flew the 1919 International Air Race, August 25-26, NY-Toronto-NY and placed 10th in a field of 32 flying an S.E.5A. Condition is good with usual light corner bends. Several press agency rubber stamps on the back.
