Original 8x10" glossy press photo of a Loening seaplane ready to be launched in Massachusetts. Caption on the reverse mentions two Loenings piloted by Commander C.C. von Paulsen and Ensign Leonard M. Melka searching for lost trans-Atlantic pilots Coli anc Nungesser. The aircraft was never found and remains a mystery to this day. Nungesser, of course was a leading French ace in WWI. Rubber stamp on reverse is dated May 8, 1930. Corners are chipped and there are several small closed edge tears; else good.
