Bronze finely struck 2.25" diameter medal. Commemorates the Trans-Atlantic flight of the German Zeppelin LZ-126 to Lakehurst over three days, 12-15 Oct 1924. Dr. Eckener commanded this historic Atlantic crossing to deliver the war reparations airship to the U.S. Navy. This is all detailed on the face of the medal; on the reverse is a bust of Count Zeppelin, the father of this airship series who had passed away in 1917. Very good, excellent patina.
