Very early patent document dated Jan 24, 1888. Patent No. 376,937. Six pages, 8x11.5", pasted along left edge. Includes two pages of illustrations and two of written specifications. Appears much like a kite with a pivoting wing and attached tail but the claims are for a "Flying Machine". Interestingly, inventor William Beeson was from Dillon in the Montana Territory; in the patent he states "My invention relates to a machine for navigating the air, and has for its object to provide a simple and efficient machine of this character". Very good; some horizontal folds and a rubber stamp on a blank page from a prominent aviation collector.
