  • 1918 Photo of Long Distance Flight Crew - Wright Field, Ohio

     Postcard with obverse printed location as "Wilbur Wright Field, Fairfield, Ohio" and text "Aviation Section, US Army, Just Back From a 250 Mile Flight".  Postally used and sent on 9/6/18 from Lt. H.E. Hamill, 3rd Provisional Sqdn to a Miss Ruthe Fenton.  In his ink message he talks about the heavy flight clothing the pilots are wearing.  General condition very good; postmark continues on to front image.

     Smaller than postcard (3x4.5").  Shows JN-4 with mechanic working on engine, crowd watching.  Pencil text on reverse: "U.S. Army WWI Plane Missouri".  No noticeable insignia on aircraft may indicate an early barnstormer. Condition very good; two corners have small remnants of album mounts.

     Official Acme News 5x7" black & white press photo dated May 23, 1928.  Blue press release pasted to reverse with text: "TO FLY ARMY INTERNATIONAL AIR RACE, Lieutenant Henry G. Fisher, now stationed at Scott Field....will accompany Capt. Edmund W. Hill in one of the Army Air Corps balloons in the National Elimination Balloon Race to be held at Bettis Field, Pa., May 30."  Usual news service rubber stamps on reverse.  Excellent condition.

  • Photo Group - Powder Puff Derby Pilot Minnie Boyd

     This is a lot of 10 photos from the estate of Minnie Boyd, active member of the 99's, Flying Farmers and contestant in the 1955 Powder Puff Derby.  Included is a panorama of the 1960 Powder Puff awards banquet (folded, poor condition but the image is clear) and an 8x10 of Minnie and her co-pilot for the 1955 Derby.  Other photos are of unknown friends and family.  Various condition.
