  • Cincinnati "Albatross Birdmen News" Inaugural Issues - 1936/37

     Three issues of this fledgling aviation club, each 8.5x11", mimeographed, stapled.  Vol I, Copy I, Oct 1, 1936, 6pp.  Vol II, Copy I, Jan 1937, 4pp. Vol II, Copy II, May 1937, 3pp.  Likely these are the first three issues of this flying club with a glider and a powered aircraft based at Parks Watson Airport.  Content includes member news, contest results, aircraft news, etc.  It's likely this is a unique offering as I imagine very few of these newsletters have survived over the last 82 years. Very good; Vol I Copy I at the top of the first page was smeared in production.

  • Memorial Newspaper for Photographer William P. Mayfield - 1974

    SKU: 21-MISC-45

     A 24pp photo essay on the life and work of William Reston Mayfield, a prolific Ohio photographer born in 1896 and passing in 1974.  Mayfield was famous for his photos of the Wright experiments at Huffman Praire and other noteable aviation events in Ohio.  He operated a photo studio in Dayton for 45 years and was on the staff of the Dayton Daily News.  This piece  measures 12x14", is on newsprint, and has well-known Mayfield photos on every page but two which is a biography of Mayfield's work. Very good with usual newsprint toning.  Pictured is the top half of the front page, below which carries the inscription and autograph of a dealer in photographic antiques.

  • First Four Issues of the ANTIQUE AIRPLANE ASSOCIATION NEWS - 1953

     Volume I, Numbers 1-4.  Each issue is two sheets of 8.5x14" paper, printed one side.  First page is text with second page of classified ads.  The inaugural issue speaks to the goals of the publication, the initiation of a fly-in, a photo contest and a yearly membership fee of $1.00!  Each issue was folded once for mailing and hand-addressed.  Two issues have been mailed, the others are unused.  Duplicates in this lot are two of Number 3 and three of Number 4.  About very good.  An important early record of this important historical aircraft organization.

  • 25th Anniversary of Wright Flight Special Dayton Daily News Edition - 1928

     Large 16x23.5" newsprint special with 8pp of articles and photos of the Wright first flight accomplishment (only top half above the fold is pictured) .  Edition is dated Sunday Dec 16, 1928.  As is typical, the newsprint is very fragile.  About fair-good, splitting at the fold; needs to be framed or conservation preserved.  Can't be many of these survived.
