  • A Lot of 5 Air Mail Stickers - circa 1930-1950

     Small gummed stickers, the longest 4".  Two are advertising Northwest Airlines, two are generic red-white-blue "via air mail" and the last is a circa 1930s air mail wing sticker.  All are mint, unused.

  • WWII Base Newspaper, Anacostia NAS - October (1943)

     12 page original newspaper, First October Issue (assumed 1943).  8x13", stapled left margin. Interior articles include a Purple Heart Award story and ceremony, church notes, dance band schedule, personnel highlights, Wave news, Dance Night, boxing report and sports page. A most interesting peek at the activities of a stateside Navy Base in wartime. Very good.

  • Paris Aviation Exposition Vendor Application Form - 1921

     Unused four-page 8.5x11" form for exhibitors in this 12-27 Nov 1921 exhibition.  Front page has lines to be filled-in; partial page 1, pages 2-3 and partial page 4 has rules of the exhibition and bottom of page four lists the exhibition categories.  French text and likely from the Paris NACA files, interesting look at how these early exhibitions were organized.  Good; a few minor interior stain spots.

  • Balloon "Jupiter" Commemorative Sticker/Stamp - 1939

     Small two-color sticker (appears glueless), 2x3", perforated top and bottom.  Published by the Lafayette, Indiana, Philatelic Society to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the Jupiter airmail flight and celebrating their 3rd annual exhibit in 1939.  Very good.

  • WWII Silk Escape Map, Plates 43 A&B - France/Spain/Germany/Belgium/Holland/Switzerland

     Two sided, about 28" square, folds to a 5x4" rectangle for storage in survival kits.  Side A: The Pyrenees, France (NW), Belgium (W&Central) and part of Holland.  Side B:  France (SW), Spain (N) and the German-Swiss Frontier.  (The photo shows just one small corner of one side) Very good.   • Unusual Flown Cover for a Korean War Helicopter Flight Into the North - 1951

     Detailed cachet describing what must have been a risky flight of a Sikorsky HO3S-1 from the U.S.S. Manchester (Cleveland-Class Cruiser) into North Korea for photo intelligence.  Ink inscription details the flight and the word Return is underlined, no doubt an indication of the dangers of such a mission.  Pilot's signature on the last line.  Postmarked on the Manchester and backstamped in New Jersey eight days later.  Very good.   • Flown Mail on London-Melbourne Race, Pilot Roscoe Turner - 1934

     Inrteresting envelope with rubber stamp logo: "Carried by us in the Mac Robertson International Air Race London Melbourne, 3rd Place, Time 3 days, 21 hrs, 5 min, 2 sec, Commander American Crew Col. Roscoe Turner".  Carries both British and Australain stamps and cancellations.  Addressed to Turner in Melcourne. Very good and quite displayable in that all information is on the front of the envelope; no backstamps.
