  • Samuel F. Cody Receipt for Flying Cathedral Parts - 1913

Small 7.5x6.5" printed receipt with handwritten annotations for small parts from Brown Brothers sold to Cody.  Samuel F. Cody was an American famous for his western melodramas performed in Europe but more so for piloting the first aircraft in England.  This receipt is dated just months before his death in the wreckage of his Flying Cathedral; his funeral drew 100,000 mourners.  I highly recommend reading one or more of the excellent biographies of Cody which describe the life of this genuine character.  I have two receipts available, one dated June 2nd and the other July 14.  They are nearly identical but for different purchases. Unless you specify, my choice and price is for each.

  • Boeing P-12B Lot - 1930

Fascinating lot of paperwork and photos relating to The Boeing School of Aeronautics (dated 13 June 1930), The American Model League of America and an outstanding model of the P-12B built by a young man from Oakland, California.  The lot includes 1) A typed letter from the General Manager of the Boeing School to the Model League regarding the accuracy of the P-12B model, 2) A carbon of a typed letter in reply from teh League back to Boeing commenting on the wonderful nature of the model but regretting that it was submitted after the deadline, 3) Three 8x6" b&w photos of the model and the young builder next to the real P-12B (Boeing photos); each photo with a typed description on the reverse and 4) A very large 34x44" folded model plan of the P-12B from the Model League of America.   Generally good-very good condition; some spliting at the folds of the model plan.  Wow, do I ever wish I owned this model!

Fascinating exchange in two letters regarding a sales prospect for an Anzani engine.  Handwritten letter from prospective buyer and a typewritten letter from the Hoosier Airport President to the prospective seller of the engine discussing the price.  Hoosier Airport stationery is quite fancy!  Very good.

  • Early Irvin Air Chute Bag - Circa 1925-35

Tan canvas bag about 15"x15"x20" with a top flap secured by 7- Carr Fast Co. post fasteners and front & rear loop web carrying handles.  Flap carries the stenciled logo of Irving.  Included is a postal cover commemorating the fatal flight of Paul Redfern attempting a solo flight from Brunswick, NJ to Rio de Janeiro in 1927.  The story attached to this bag is that it belonged to Redfern but I have no documentation.  Nevertheless, a very early artifact from the Golden Age of Aviation.  Structurally sound with no tears but with soiling throughout.

  • Topping T-39 Model - circa 1970's

Large solid plastic model by Topping on stand.  Wingspan and length both 13",  original stand reads: "North American Aviation/Columbus/North american Rockwell".  I flew this aircraft from 1978 to 1984 and have many fond memories.  This model would normally sell for about $100 but this one has some vertical stabilizer chips and a repair (as seen in the bottom photo) so I have priced it much lower.
