  • Parachute Jump Broadside - July 13, 1930

    SKU: 15-AR-00069

Intriguing 6x11" broadside announcing parachute jumps by "Howdy" Reitenbaugh and two student jumpers (one a "Miss Violet Kilpatrick"; making her first jump!).  Printed on newsprint paper; likely few survived.  Very good except for small chip in lower left corner.  Nice early air show item and certainly very rare.  (In a recent telephone conversation with Howdy's nephew I learned that this jump was at the dedication of Robinson Airfield, Millersburg, PA on July 13, 1930.  You can view a photo of Howdy and the other jumpers at www.airmailpioneers.org/Pilots/Robinson.  Howdy was killed in a jump in July 1932 when his parachute failed to fully open.)
